We have made a contribution to the purchase of a defibrillator ,which Geoff Thomas at Boxted Lodgers FC manage to purchase at a very reasonable cost .
Geoff has now arranged for a highly qualified fire officer to give instructions on the use of the defib and resuscitation techniques on the above date.
For those of you who will be regularly at the club during the season if would be useful if some of you can attend on the basis that, were the worst to happen ,we may have at least one person who is more confident in its use than others ( it is possible to use without training, but in the highly charge situation of a medical emergency ,prior knowledge can be beneficial .
The bar will also be open, so there is also a social element to the evening , with an opportunity for the different clubs/teams to mingle with each other in a relaxed way .
Thank you to those who made an effort last Saturday ,especially since the work was brought forward at short notice due to anticipated bad weather ,
I think we had 15 people at one point , which might be close to a club record !!
Also a number did e mail me saying they could not make it for various reasons, so thanks for your courtesy in that regard .
On the day we managed to spike the wicket ,distribute 70 odd bags of loam and finish off with grass seed . Also, sight screens went away and a few people tackled the tricky and time-consuming job of dismantling our net ( sadly vandalized and a potential liability to us if left as it was ) . Finally a guard has been put around the wicket to discourage too much footfall over the winter .
Our groundsman , Graham Francis, would like me to pass on his thanks . He was very impressed with the turn out and hard work and he is not known to be easily impressed ( sorry Graham ,couldn't resist that one !).
Further to my earlier e mail , please now find attached the Agenda for the AGM and last year's minutes.
Please come along and have your say !
Additionally if any one wishes to be nominated for a postion in the the club ( all positions in the club are elected annually , with incumbents retiring each year and then being eligible for re-election ) , then please advise me by e mail before the meeting . All nominations must be seconded .
Currently I can say that we will are seeking nominations for both Secretary and Sunday captain ( thanks to both Lorraine and Mike for many years of loyal and excellent support !) .
Hon. Chairman Boxted CC
